ISDN - isdn4k-utils
You need to make some small changes in the Makefiles to ensure correct
compilation of the isdn4k-utils. I will assume that you unpacked the
source archive under /usr/local/src/isdn4k-utils-2.0.
- In /usr/local/src/isdn4k-utils-2.0/Makefile,
remove isdnbutton-1.1 from the SUBDIRS line
if you don't have Motif installed.
- In /usr/local/src/isdn4k-utils-2.0/imontty-0.3/Makefile,
change the
LDFLAGS
line to LDFLAGS=-lncurses -lm
.
- In /usr/local/src/isdn4k-utils-2.0/isdnlog-2.41/Makefile,
change the
LIB
line to LIB=-lgdbm
.
NOTE: My Linux distribution (Slackware, Infomagic dec.1996)
did not have "/usr/include/ncurses.h". According to the ncurses
manpage, curses.h would be the correct name. So I created a
symlink from curses.h to ncurses.h (cd /usr/include
; ln -s curses.h ncurses.h).
Now, you should be able to make the package. When compiled, you
should issue make devices and make install to properly
install isdn4k-utils. You will now have a couple of utilities available:
- isdnctrl - get/set ISDN device information
- telesctrl - configure Teles-Module-logging
It would be wise to set up the ISDNLOG program first. This
program shows the activity on the ISDN lines, and is therefore a great
help in debugging.
On a separate terminal, issue:
/sbin/isdnctrl verbose 3
/sbin/isdnlog -w10 -m5623 -l1527 /dev/isdnctrl0
Note: I use the following commandline to have ISDNLOG
use tty12 ([F12] on my keyboard). This is a very convenient way of
keeping track of my ISDN subsystem:
/sbin/isdnlog -w10 -m5623 -l1527 /dev/isdnctrl0 -C/dev/tty12
You may want to do a 'tail -f /var/log/messages' on another
terminal as well.
isdnlog configuration files
ISDNLOG uses two configuration files:
- /etc/isdnlog/isdnlog.conf - Global configuration for isdnlog
- /etc/isdnlog/isdnlog.users - Only relevant if you use the X-Window clients
Please read the ISDNLOG documentation (the file README
in the isdnlog-2.41 directory) for more information on these
configuration files.
TimRu extensions for dial-on-demand
By default, any network activity will bring up the connection.
If you want to limit this (say, you don't want a
'ping' to bring up the connection), take a look at TimRu.
